OUR FOUNDERS

Late. Shri Karunaker Sulegavi

Founder

Mr. Karunaker Sulegavi was the primary founder of Modern Public English School. Born on May 29, 1943, in Davangere, Karnataka, he spent his formative years in a large joint family in Mangalore, where he completed his schooling. He earned his Engineering degree (B.E. Civil) from the esteemed R.E.C. Calicut (now N.I.T. Calicut) in 1969.

He began his professional career with B.W.S.S.B as a Junior Engineer in 1970. His commitment to societal betterment and the lack of quality educational institutions at the time inspired him to establish Modern Public English School in 1978. True to his principles, the school was founded on dedication, excellence, and compassion. Under his guidance as Secretary, MPS flourished, offering quality education from Nursery to Grade X with comprehensive infrastructure and amenities.

As he advanced to become the Chief Engineer at B.W.S.S.B., he continued to guide the school through a competent staff and management team. He retired as the Secretary of Modern Public English School in 2002.

Mr. Karunaker passed away on May 20, 2015. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication to holistic education continues to inspire us.

Smt. Lalitha Karunaker

Co-Founder & Chief Administrator

Born in Bengaluru, Mrs. Lalitha completed her schooling in Bangalore before earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Maharani’s College, Bangalore and further pursuing and completing her Bachelor of Education.

Mrs. Lalitha began her professional career at B.P. Indian School, Malleswaram, in 1975 and was soon promoted to Headmistress due to her ability and competence.

With her dedication and leadership, Mrs. Lalitha was instrumental in establishing the school’s core values of trust, respect, and commitment.

Through her ongoing and consistent efforts, she helped MPS become one of the finest schools in the community, focusing on affordable, quality education with dedicated teaching staff, essential infrastructure, and evolving leadership.

Her emphasis on holistic child development, including academics and extracurricular activities, has yielded significant rewards.

As the Chief Administrator, Mrs. Lalitha continues to oversee the key managerial activities of the school, guiding the faculty, ensuring governance and compliance, and contributing to the broader community.

I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this school alongside our dedicated team of educators, staff, and administrators, all committed to providing our students with an exceptional educational experience.

Through our student-centred and holistic approach, we equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to navigate an ever-changing world. We empower them to think independently, act responsibly, lead with compassion, and make a meaningful impact. Beyond academics, we offer a diverse range of Extra-Curricular Activities, that cultivate leadership, critical thinking, social awareness, creativity, and innovation. Our goal is to nurture morally upright and respectful citizens who are prepared to meet the challenges of the future with confidence.
